About SFS
SHOOTING FASHION STARS is focused on presenting the up-and-coming generation of fashion designers to experts, the broader public and the media. The objective is to raise the society’s awareness of the fact that the Czech Republic is home to fashion and design on a professional level, comparable with the global parameters of the fashion world.
Project’s idea
The world’s film festivals introduce dozens of young, talented actors every year as part of the search for future film stars – the “Shooting Stars”. This way the actors have an opportunity to introduce themselves to journalists, producers, and film directors.
Similarly to young actors, fashion designers also wait for their opportunity to make their mark and show the world their talent and ability. So, together with them, we decided to create a project where up-and-coming fashion designers could present their specific collections, showing their signature styles.
The first SHOOTING FASHION STARS was held in 2003; since 2005 the SFS fashion show has taken place as one of the events accompanying Designblok. The connection of SFS with Designblok is a logical and desired result of the event’s intention where fashion is gaining an increasingly strong and prominent position as part of Designblok.
The SHOOTING FASHION STARS project is more than just a fashion show – it is a comprehensive project. Every year SFS presents several fashion designers, individual collections and different views of fashion. While the collections are highly specific, the show has a common theme thread. Communication between the organisers, the creative team and the designers is the chief prerequisite for the show to meet all requirements for professionalism, thus becoming a unique and unforgettable cultural event.
Following the excellent response to the previous years when the SFS fashion show annually attracted more than 800 architects, designers, VIP and art school students, the SFS project has gained a prominent position.
SFS guardians
For SFS 08, the fifth anniversary edition, the project was extended to include a jury of experts – the SFS GUARDIANS who pick the best candidates from among the young designers and the collections to be presented at the SFS show with a critical eye and through a clash of opinions from many sides and viewpoints.
