The first SHOOTING FASHION STARS shoow took place at the Gallery Art Factory in Prague on 3 October 2003, enjoying great interest from the media and general public. The show was preceded by the introduction of the new design mobile handset by Alcatel, general partner to SFS 03.

The Gallery’s industrial appearance proved to be a perfect background for the various fashion collections. The stage was set across the entire room, with a floor level catwalk outlined in black industrial rubber. The catwalk led to a large cargo elevator at one end of the Gallery. This design underpinned the overall vibe and enthralled the visitors. Dominating the premises was a film screen onto which short inspirational videos were projected between collections.

Fashion designers

D. T. Leitner The designer pair D.T. LEITNER (Dana Turečková, Yvona Leitnerová) presented a trend collection for autumn and winter of 03/04 with a working title of Boubelky (Plump Ladies). The collection met great accolades, perhaps also because the models were not professional models but women with the appetite and courage to try modelling. Models enrolled via a poll in Elle published several months before the event. A huge number of truly attractive and interesting women came to the Elle reader casting, and selecting just a few from them was not an easy task. The look of a round woman wearing tasteful, casual and sexy clothes pleased any eye.

Petr Kalouda presented his mostly men’s collection titled Woo-Doo, drawing inspiration from the arts of primitive cultures and working clothes cuts. The ingenious cuts of his trousers together with simple tops of light materials as well as felt jewels with graphic patterns gave the collection decorative arts airiness.

alešbáry – a pair of artists Aleš Šeliga and Bára Kučerová – bet on accessories. They complemented simple lines of garments with inventive hats with hair decorations and other special accessories – shoes and belts of leather and strass, covered with fur coats. The combinations of the luxury fur with sometimes downright technological materials made for an interesting contrast that enhanced the clothes’ form and originality.

Michaela Bakotová The last designer in the show, MICHAELA BAKOTOVÁ presented her new summer collection for 2004 titled Mimicry. The environment of light and dark, the enchantment of exotic birds’ bright colours, and the world of computer animation resulted in a surprising combination that responded to the current trends. Michaela’s collections are intended for dynamic men and women and lend them a youthful, avant-garde look.
