SFS 05

The second year of SHOOTING FASHION STARS was organised following a one-year hiatus. This time round, SFS united with the days of design in Prague – Designblok project, which had a positive influence on the development of the original idea behind SFS as well as on the impact on its audience in our country. The event was met with a great response from the audience, which rated the show as inspirational and very sensitive in terms of fine arts. The show took place in the Designblok superstudio – an industrial hall in the Prague quarter of Karlín.

Chosen once again, the industrial premises – much more generous this time – offered substantial comfort to the viewers as well as the scene and the SFS team. The factory hall’s rear wing housed the scene reminiscent of a large white room with a window towards the world. The entire show took place within the window (a projection screen). Inspirational videos introducing each collection refreshed the whole show while providing a common thread connecting the collections.

Kateřina Geislerová , SFS’s international guest and a Paris-based Czech, opened the SFS 05 show with her ladies’ collection. This was the very first time that Kateřina presented her work to a Czech audience. Her sense of architecture and sculptor’s talent took us to the 19th century with the contrasts of the male and the female. Kateřina works with existing men’s suits, transforming them into very feminine forms and combining them with gentle and airy textiles. Her woman is fragile and classical, yet strong and original. A whiff of elegance and femininity set the tone for the whole evening – an evening celebrating the modern woman with clear ideas and her own creativity.

E:be The ZUGESCHNITTEN Spring/Summer 2006 collection by EVA BRZÁKOVÁ (E:be) was inspired by theatre costumes and the rococo style. Her models featured a playful and feminine silhouette, the darker pastel tones of her materials augmented with embroidery and gold imprints underpinned elegance. The fragile union of contrasts evoked a dramatic impression.

Miriam Holeščáková , working under the TASKA label, designed the accessories for the E:be collection. Titled “Play with me”, her collection of shoes and handbags was made exclusively in cooperation with the Baťa brand. A combination of well-chosen cuts and materials resulted in a retro look with a touch of modernity.

Muset The artist pair of RADANA AND PAVEL IVANČIC have worked under the MUSET brand for years. 2005 was an important year for them. Having won the Top Styl Designer award at the Styl summer fashion fair trade in Brno, they took their collection to a Prague show for the first time as part of SFS. Their VENUS AS A BOY collection is about the feminine silhouette with male elements that lend the garments playfulness and exclusivity. The colour combinations of white, black and red emphasise the graphic side to the collection and enhance its impact.

Jakub Polanka and his JAN 13 collection crowned the evening. The inspiration of fine, colourful glass panes in church windows, golden church relics and organic jewel shapes materialised in a fine arts collection of gentle silk chiffons, fluffy golden waistcoats and tight stretch fabric parts.
