SFS 06

The industrial vibe of the previous years was replaced by modern architecture of the new River City Prague development. The interior of the Danube House hosted SFS 06. The grand scene with a dominant screen and several smaller projection screens allowed a show full of harmony and contrast. One could see unusual cuts, files of pearls, frills, and the colours black, red, grey, white and beige.

Year 2006 marked a get-together of all designers from AAAD Praha – both graduates and students. The common thread in their work was the street inspiration, albeit in completely different takes based on varied approaches to fashion and creation. SFS 06 was again held as part of the Days of Design in Prague – Designblok, being the main accompanying event of the one-week programme.

Linda Morávková creates under the Lin lin moniker. The main motif that she chose for the collection presented was a frail girl encircled by the brutality of the city who is a nightmare flying through the night city at the same time. Her work is a reaction to the environment we live in, to its geometry, dimensions and forms in the context of reality, life, and its construct.

Markéta Kopecká The Circle Sector collection by MARKÉTA KOPECKÁ, an AAAD Prague student, was inspired by the idea of seeking harmony through uniting contrasts – black and white, an airy material living a life of its own, versus firm forms of tough materials.

Marcel Holubec W. The international guest, MARCEL HOLUBEC W. opened the fashion show. Titled Love_sex_fashion, his collection blended two lives – of the man and of the woman: a typical love story. The good and the evil, love and hate, war and peace, an immaculate virgin and a prostitute…

Vojtěch Novotný ’s work is based on a high degree of professionalism with a classic approach to fashion design. His inspiration is an elegant, individual young woman and his models are very elegant and chic. The collection presented reflected on the world of ballet. He is fascinated by both the elegance and beauty of movements and the enormous concentration and hard work which goes part and parcel with rehearsing in the mirror wall dance halls. His collection shows a contrast of lightness and firmness, unisex and sex appeal, being loose and being bound.

Leona Škanderová designed the accessories for Vojtěch Novotný’s collection. Leona is a graduate of the AAAD in Prague and the winner of several young fashion designer awards. She creates her accessories predominantly from leather, but she also works with non-classical materials and new technologies.
