Martin Havel
Martin Havel is a men’s tailor by vocation as well as a graduate of the Technical University in Liberec – Textiles and Fashion Design. Should you want to meet him, go to the AAAD building in Prague where he has been a student of the Fashion Design studio led by Josef Ťapťuch for four years now. In 2007 he won the “Talent of the Season” award at the Prague Fashion Week, defending the award successfully in the autumn later that year. In the same year, he was also nominated for the first round of the Annual Awards of the Design Academy of the Czech Republic for “Fashion Designer of the Year”. He has participated in many shows and exhibits home and abroad. His work can be described as sophisticated minimalism in the “Retro-Future” style. His models are elegant, with avant-garde elements. Martin designs fashion as well as the comprehensive living space for the man. He designs also soft furnishings and cooperates with professionals from the field of film, design, and applied arts on his collections.
He says of his work: “Garment for me is not only a utility item – it also pragmatically expresses the living philosophy of the person who wears it. The paradox of a simple design focused on detail in the complexity of the world and quest for assurance in life becomes my primary creative philosophy and characterises my further work. A person who decides to wear these clothes expresses the desire to win a timeless dimension for their life. My models exude and offer assurance. Put them on and see for yourselves!”
